Who or What is the Antichrist, Really?

by Joshua Tilghman on August 3, 2012

Today I want to speak on the antichrist. This is one of the most misunderstood concepts of the Bible, not only in the fundamentalist’s camp, but also in the mainstream Christian mindset. And to be blunt, this misunderstanding has robbed true spiritual maturity and power from the Christian for hundreds of years.

It is quite comical to me that so many people still believe the antichrist is a literal individual who is yet to be revealed. I have seen entire websites dedicated to revealing that one individual has to be the antichrist. This is utter nonsense; it is the kind of teaching which makes a mockery of the Bible. The original authors of the Bible used symbols, parables, and wisdom sayings that focused on developing the holy temple, which is you. Everything in the Bible was written to help you look “within” and develop the Christ nature there. To see the antichrist as an outside individual returning to wreak havoc on the world is pure religion; the antichrist spirit itself!

So let’s jump into a few scriptures that will reveal something about the antichrist that religion will never understand (remember that all religion is exoteric in nature and teaches you to look “without” for the truth when truth can truly only be found “within”).

“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now there are many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time” (1 John 2:18).

As you can see from the scripture above, the antichrist is not an individual. Neither is there an “end time,” a future event that will reveal such a unique person; John makes it clear that there are many antichrists and that even 2000 years ago it was already the last time.

So what does the term antichrist refer to? Consider 1 John 4:3:

“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist…”

The antichrist refers to a mindset or a belief system that denies that the salvation of God comes to us while we are in the flesh! Let me put it another way. Notice how the scripture uses the present and imperfect tense when it states that “Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.” This denotes a continuous action. It does not say when Jesus came in the flesh. In other words, Jesus’ coming in the flesh is a continuous event happening in the flesh! And it happens in us, in this lifetime, right here on earth! The person who denies this is “antichrist.” It’s that plain and simple.

So the Biblical definition of the antichrist is anyone (living in the past, present, or future), that denies that there is a spiritual resurrection that takes place in our fleshly bodies. The resurrection does not happen after death! In fact, if you wait that long believing it will happen, it shall be too late and you’ll automatically end up participating in another round of cyclic birth and death. (See Reincarnation taught in the Bible Here).

This is why the Gnostics taught that if we do not receive the spiritual resurrection in this life we will receive nothing upon death. And why would the early church so furiously try to eradicate all the Gnostic teachings from the church? Because it took power away from the religious institution and put it in the hands of the individual. If all individuals understood that salvation starts by going “within” then what need is there for a spiritual leader to tell you what God’s will is?

Answer: None! And that didn’t make some popes of antiquity very happy!

Additionally, why would the Gnostics consider Paul their greatest teacher? Is there any truth to that? Consider the scriptures by Paul below:

“…Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light” (Ephesians 5:14).

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you…” (Galatians 4:19).

“…for ye are the temple of the living God…” (2 Corinthians 6:16).

All these scriptures are trying to tell us that your body is a holy temple because it was designed for a holy purpose. The Christ nature is resurrected in your flesh. The scriptures above show us that Paul sees it the same way.

When John tells us that anyone who denies that Christ comes in the flesh is an antichrist, understand that he wants us to believe that the Christ nature is awakened from your experiences in the flesh! Ancient texts like the Bible have been teaching for millennia that the fleshly body was a tomb that prepared the Spirit for growth through experience in the physical world. The body then, is a symbolic tomb where the spirit has a chance to experience a resurrection. The entire story of Christ is meant to represent this concept for us.

A careful study of the traditional Gospels teaches us this when they are understood non-literally. Think about it. Christ returns from the dead in all kinds of contradictory accounts and then eats food! This is a spiritual explanation of a resurrection experience from the flesh!

Think about Paul’s idea again of waking a dead person (Ephesians 5:14). How can you wake up a dead person? The answer for them mystic would be to form the Christ “within” them. It’s all spiritual. None of it is literal!

So let’s consider the entire point of this post again: Anyone who denies that this Christ nature comes (is nurtured) about through their flesh is an antichrist. This includes religious spirits (mindsets) that believe you must look “outside” of yourself for salvation. Salvation only comes by looking within you. Jesus clearly taught that the Kingdom of Heaven was within you. This is just another example that up is down and down is up in religion.

All this hoopla about looking to Revelations or the Book of Daniel to figure out the when the end times will be and who the antichrist is becomes a waste of time when you understand the true intention of the Biblical authors.

How does this knowledge help you?

The Bible is a complicated book. You just can’t pick it up and read it literally. If it is studied in this way, you are going to come up with conflicting answers for many of life’s questions. I have seen so many people waste so much time arguing scripture with scripture. Think about how ridiculous this is. Instead of just realizing that they are both fighting a battle that cannot be won, they continue in the madness. Reading the Bible literally also causes tens of thousands of people every year to do enormously stupid things, like selling everything you own because they believe the rapture is about to happen. All that energy could have gone into creating a better reality for themselves and others, or even developing the Christ nature within. The Bible truly is an awesome book. In fact, it’s so awesome that it was written in a way to deceive those who interpret it literally by their egos. These same people then use their egos to slam everything and everyone else that doesn’t agree with their understanding. Look beneath the literal meaning when you study and see how the outward events are meant to represent that which is “within” you. Then you can begin to live a more spiritually rich life by the scriptures.

I would like to add some food for thought on the “Antichrist.” Some people view the Antichrist as Archangel Lucifer, the leader of the “fallen” archangels.

You said: “Ancient texts like the Bible have been teaching for millennia that the fleshly body was a tomb that prepared the Spirit for growth through experience in the physical world.” I completely agree and I would like to add the following:

Archangel Lucifer agreed to help souls grow spiritually through the experiencing of “contrast” (duality)–meaning, challenges and difficulties. (A fast way to grow spiritually.) He had agreed to sacrifice his name by representing everything that was the opposite of God. He would take the blame so that the experiment / game the souls were setting up / engineering could be played as effectively as possible and humanity could learn as quickly as possible. (There’s an interesting story I learned from Toni Petrinovich’s book “The Call: Awakening the Angelic Human” that says this in a beautiful way.)

So these are my thoughts: Archangel Lucifer had agreed to sacrifice his name on the “Cross of Duality,” so that souls could learn their lessons quickly. And souls have for a long time participated in this “Earth experiment,” which included acting like “antichrists” at times, so that souls could teach each other some big lessons…

Earth has been a very difficult school, but we are now coming to the end of this cycle at the end of this year, 12/21/2012, which is represented by a “cross” that will be present in the heavens (astronomical lines) at that time. But we still have to “graduate” from this school by showing that we have learned all our lessons and we also have to demonstrate who we really are–which is what will help create the transformation / Golden Age.

So … who else sacrificed himself on the Cross for humanity’s sake? Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ came to help prepare humanity for this time we’re in right now, so that humanity can make the transformation to a new world in time. I also believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnation of the great Archangel Lucifer who made this immense sacrifice so that humanity could have these incredible experiences. (The two are one. And … this is I feel also why Jesus is/has been viewed as different from the rest–a great soul, pure, …)

Some people have blamed Lucifer and some have cursed using Jesus’s name while going through difficulties and hardships in life (that their souls actually CHOSE to experience, by the way), but once the lessons are learned, they will be completely grateful for their experiences.

I know that these great souls have not had many lifetimes here (they learn fast) and I know they are here on this planet now, helping with the transition.

Christine,

Thanks for your long and thoughtful comment. It’s interesting that you label Lucifer and Christ as one in the same. My next blog post I will be putting out after I reply to this comment discusses this.

I like your “Cross of duality” terminology. It’s important that people realize that a wide range of experiences provides the atmosphere for soul maturation.

Christine, I didn’t know that 12/21/2012 marked a date in which a “cross” will be present in the heavens (astronomical lines), as you say. Fascinating. I will have to look more into this. I know that ancient peoples used to see the Gospel story in the stars. The Milky Way is the ancient Jordan river in a symbolic sense.

In a compilation of message board chat transcript titled “The Revelations of an Elite Family Insider” it is said that Christ descended many thousands of years ago, i.e. not in our age, whereas Jesus, who came in this present age 2000 years ago, is actually not the real Christ, or something like this. It’s a very interesting read to say the least.

Could Christine possibly meant this in her post?

@Joshua: What is your take on “The Revelations of an Elite Family Insider”?

Joshua Tilghman September 17, 2012 at 8:22 pm

tChron,

I believe the Christ is a potential “within” us. This is the true Christ. And any man walking this earth 2000 years ago who was a Son of God would teach the same. If you read the Gospels carefully, I believe you can clearly discern this. Start with the Gospel of John. Many of Jesus’ saying here make this perfectly clear. Therefore, if you think about it, many Christs have been and are here now.

Thanks for commenting.

Bernhardt Adjedi Cadbury August 25, 2012 at 7:09 pm

Not a comment but asking if Jesus physically existed?.

Joshua Tilghman August 26, 2012 at 7:11 pm

Bernhardt,

This is a great question. I believe yes and no. Yes, because there was a man who achieved the Way to salvation many thousands of years ago. However, the Jesus that we have presented to us in the Gospels is embellished quite a bit. I am going to be doing a series of post which will answer this question in depth over the next few weeks. I believe I will have some great information to present to you that will give you the big picture. Stay tuned, and thanks for your question, Bernhardt.

One correction, Jesus is the incarnation of the Archangel Michael and not Lucifer. Lucifer has never held the position of archangel. It was Lucifer (the dragon and Satan) and his angels who was fighting against Archangel Micheal and his angels, which lead to his disfellowshipment from the courts of heaven. See Rev. 12. As Christ has his agent, the church, in the world to promote His cause, so will Lucifer (Satan) employ his agent, the antichrist, to oppose the cause of Christ. This conflict will reach its climax in the end time.

Joshua Tilghman January 1, 2013 at 7:34 pm

Steve,

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on the article. Although you have an interesting position, I don’t think the texts were meant to be literal.

Joshua Brown December 5, 2013 at 7:35 pm

I really found truth in this article. In fact, I’ve been reading ppsts on this blog a lot lately and I just can’t stop digging in!
Your last paragraph is incredibly apparant to me. I have seen this within my family. My dad and my uncle often debate the Law vs. Grace/Faith argument. I’ve been on the outside mostly as an observer to this. I can see no development in their relationship as brothers. In fact it has moved them apart more. I must now try to help my as he still dad to see the esoteric meaning of scriptures. I think he may get the message from this blog because you keep things simple and you cover the basics well. May I ask you where a good place to start??

Joshua Tilghman December 7, 2013 at 10:51 am

Josh,

If a person has an open mind and is willing to see another viewpoint, introducing them to the estoeric meaning of the scriptures can be an excellent way to fulfill a desire to know more about something that doesn’t seem to make sense from the traditional standpoint. Does your dad have any particular portion of scripture that doesn’t quite make sense to him through traditional interpretation? If so, feel free to shoot me an e-mail and I’ll be glad to help.

JB December 11, 2013 at 6:05 pm

He refuses to accept that reincarnation as a possibility. He’ll usually find a way to make the literal translation make sense to him. He believes in eternal hell as a place of damnation for those who do not have faith. He believes that no matter how Loving someone is, they are not saved unless they have faith in God. He defines Faith as the evidence of things hoped for. I wonder have you ever written a post about Faith explaining what it really means to have faith? Him and I at least know that God’s law is written on the heart, and not in a book. He has a great spiritual mind and he does realize the importance of literal interpretation vs spiritual meaning, but he is still blind to many of the deeper truths because he does not dig deep enough. He is open minded to a point, but still limits his possibilities with his beliefs.

Bernhardt Adjedi Cadbury December 17, 2013 at 7:58 am

You see JB, the Bible is a scientific manual i will say. Like Josh said, without an open mind to seek and know the truth one cannot dare to understand this symbolic truth that has rather been taken literally on the planet. You could also refer your father to

2 Corinthians 3:15 that says ” but even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.”

also Galatians 4:22-24 that reads For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bond maid, the other by a free woman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the free woman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth bondage, which is Agar.

You see the Bible itself saying it”s stories are not true, it did not happen but rather stands to explain something else, aspects of US that needs to evolve to perfection. This messages you cant read anywhere unless “SPIRIT OF THE SCRIPTURES” Bless Josh and just stay tuned.

Bernhardt Adjedi Cadbury December 17, 2013 at 8:10 am

J B, the more people read the Bible and take scriptures literally, the more their spiritual ignorance deepens.

Hi Josh , My opinion from my experiences which are of this Planet so you have to really open your mind up and sit deep in your heart on your throne to take in what I’m about to say Brother.

The Antichrist are all the fallen Archangels and some of them were hiding there true identity from the first and second rebellion and they are all incarnating in the flesh .
I’ve been helping the Archangles catch them to take them back to Almighty Mother/Father God and have had attacks from them and have met some of them in flesh to catch them out. As below as above

I’ve trained in telepathy and have witness many ships by contacting 5D pleadies beings that look the same as us so hers goes the truth.

Archangel Michael is an incarnation of Jesus Christ and I know and feel he will return after the 4th traid blood moon this September as Commander Christ Michael of the
Ashtar Command fleets from pleadies due to the dark agenda beings which attacked humanity spiritraully and lowered our DNA strand from 12 strand to 2 strand 13,000 yrs ago.
Lucifer is a name used to Call our fallen brethen’s .

The star of Bethlehem was a mothership from Pleadies Ashtar Command fleets connected to the Galactic Federation of light and the White Brother/Sister hood and we are the ground crew to ancore the 5th Dimension on earth .

Have you seen Dr Greer siruis disclosure ? he trains people to talk to higher dimensnal beings and has video footage of many spaceship sitings that I’ve seen to .

The most recent sitings from Steven Gree is the golden ones and he finds out what the government’s/ CIA are really up to .

Peace bro
Sam

Hi Josh , This relation speaks of his return

In the Old Testament, the prophet Joel states, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” (Joel 2:31)

In the New Testament, Jesus is quoted as saying, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light … And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:29-30)

Twin Ships Witnessed – Vero Beach FL – January 27, 2015

from Sirius Disclosure PRO 3 weeks ago All Audiences

These golden objects at the CE-5 event (see SiriusDisclosure.com for info on CE-5s) were viewed with very advanced night vision binoculars. There were NO boats or ships seen anywhere in the area of the objects and there were no jets or planes or other airborne objects anywhere near the objects before, during or after the event. There was no smoke which would be seen from flares. They emerged in this dimension suddenly and did not drift or move laterally in the direction of the wind, which was gusty at times. A flare with a small parachute would have visibly drifting significantly to the south during the long duration of the sighting. They were seen in the area of fast-moving and appearing UFOs that were not filmed but were seen the prior evening.

This is quite an interesting article, and is taking quite a lot to get used to. I grew up in a religious background and was taught the exact opposite

Christy February 23, 2016 at 9:31 am

“The body then, is a symbolic tomb where the spirit has a chance to experience a resurrection.” Love, love, love this!!!!

Joshua Tilghman February 23, 2016 at 5:25 pm

That is a great concept to think about, Christy!
