For hundreds of years Sunday schools all over the country have taught children the Biblical story of Jonah and the whale. But the deeper meaning beyond the literal story takes us beyond a man who was swallowed by a big fish; in its esoteric sense, the story is about the human condition and the initiation process into Christ consciousness that we are all destined to go through. And while the literal viewpoint gives us the impression that Nineveh is being presented with an important opportunity, the real opportunity is for Jonah, and as you’ll see, Jonah experiences an initiation process and subsequent rebirth from his lower nature to his higher nature. Did God Really Create Good and Evil?
Did God really create evil? This is the question I want to address in today’s post. It is a question that has plagued mankind since the beginning of our journey, and since it’s not going away anytime soon, I think it’s an honest question that deserves quite a bit of pondering.
The Bible emphatically states that God created evil.
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things” (Isaiah 45:7).
But what did the Biblical author mean by “evil?” I must caution you: there’s a lot more depth and breadth to this concept and verse than first meets the pondering mind. [Read more…] about Did God Really Create Good and Evil?
The Apostle Paul, Christian Mysticism, and Meditation
The Apostle Paul has come to us through history as the fierce Pharisee turned Christian. But what does this mean, exactly? We all understand the attitude of the Pharisee which Jesus confronted: that is, the Pharisee was someone who dictated to others what they had to do to please God. But the ultimate paradox is that many Christians have embraced this mindset which Paul turned away from.
To truly understand what I mean, we must ask ourselves, what was Paul’s version of Christianity?
For myself, I am positive that Paul’s version of Christianity would resemble the essence of Christian mysticism. How can I make such a statement? Paul’s own words tell us this, and in today’s post we’re going to discuss a few verses from Romans chapter 2 that reflect this sentiment. Jesus, 40 Days in the Desert, and the Ego
Today I have a special revelation for all my blog readers. In our last article, we discussed why the author of Hebrews encourages Christians to leave the doctrines of Christ (exoteric or outer teachings) and go on to maturity realizing the inner (esoteric) teachings of Christ. We also stated that when a Christian reaches this level of maturity, it is more important to realize what Jesus represents instead of focusing on who he was. Ultimately, the author of Hebrews wanted to teach his disciples a much more advanced set of teachings that were not anchored to the literal interpretation of the Biblical text. In today’s blog post I am going to focus on what Jesus should represent by going over the story of Jesus’ 40 days and nights in the desert. Why Hebrews Instructs Us to Leave the Doctrines of Christ
Ever wonder who Jesus was really supposed to be? Today I am going to focus on a few special verses from the book of Hebrews and it is my sincerest hope that these verses will help clear up many misconceptions you may have about Jesus, the human condition, and the true intent and purpose of the Bible.
There are a lot of articles on the net talking about who Jesus was. While this is an important question to ask in the beginning of one’s New Testament journey, there comes a time where a little bit of maturity on our part should prompt a different kind of discussion about Jesus: namely, one that focuses on what Jesus represents. Enoch: The Pinnacle of Man’s Earthly Sojourn
Today I am going to discuss a very mysterious man from Genesis: Enoch. His legacy is so mysterious that the institutionalized church decided other sources concerning him should not be part of the official Biblical canon. This was a big mistake because a lot of spiritual wisdom and knowledge was lost to the masses because of that decision. We can’t blame them though—not long after the 1st century the literal interpretation of the Bible became so engrained in church leadership, they labeled anything they didn’t understand as “evil.” This is still happening today. But as we’ll soon see, the tracks leading us back to some of this ancient wisdom weren’t covered completely; clues in the official cannon are still there for us to discover today! Cain and Abel: Higher and Lower Consciousness
We all know the Biblical story of Cain and Abel, but do we really understand the great spiritual implications of this iconic struggle between brothers? For centuries the church has taught this story as a literal struggle between two individuals. However, the true intent behind the narrative of Cain and Abel is much more important than its literal rendition because Cain and Abel represent something much nearer to us than a 6,000 year-old story ever could. The Bride of Christ, The Marriage Supper, and Meditation
The Bride of Christ and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb…what strange language used to describe Christians who are destined for a very special occurrence of cosmic proportions! But what does it all really mean? Could the language be symbolic for an event that might be a little closer to you than you might realize? For hundreds of years the true meaning of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb has been sacrificed by religiously-minded leaders; it is not an actual event that is going to happen in a far away majestic abode above the clouds—it’s a majestic occurrence that takes place between your ears, inside your head, or more specifically, inside your mind. The Mystery of the Husband, the Wife, and the Church
Have you ever wondered what Paul was really referring to when he used the words “husband” and “wife” in Ephesians? How about “Christ” and “Church?” Paul says it is a great mystery! What if I told you Paul was speaking of consciousness itself? Sounds absurd, doesn’t it!? But if you dig deep enough, it becomes obvious. Adam and Eve: The Story of Awareness Opportunity
What’s really behind the story of Adam and Eve? We answered many of these questions in the post entitled, Adam and Eve: The Story of Human Consciousness, but there’s so much more about the human condition packed in this brilliant little story that many more blog posts should and will be devoted to it. Today we will review more about the fractured subconscious and conscious mind, as well as the need for unity consciousness in order to become whole and healed. We will also discuss why life is the one opportunity for this to happen! [Read more…] about Adam and Eve: The Story of Awareness Opportunity

Money and the Bible: Prosperity Gospel or To Look Within
Money, prosperity, and blessings! Most everybody wants them, and in the past few decades mega-churches across the nation have developed the concept of “prosperity gospel.” The gist of this concept is that if you please God by following all his rules, God will send financial prosperity your way. Is this true? [Read more…] about Money and the Bible: Prosperity Gospel or To Look Within
Man Is Made in the Image of God
Many illuminations lie in Genesis, but few have seen the light; for centuries Biblical literalists have taught very shallow meanings for a book laden with so many esoteric—or “inner”— treasures. This is such a shame, because contained within Genesis are the answers to life’s greatest mysteries. Perhaps one of the greatest illuminations revealed in this book is the explanation of the relationship between man and god. It’s a lot closer than you can imagine.
